Social Care Worker

(Residential Accommodation Services)

Role: Full-Time

Hours: 48 hours per week (Days / Nights / Weekends)

Note: Non-EEA students with Stamp 2 permission can work up to 20 hours a week during term time and up to 40 hours a week in the holidays. Holiday periods: June to September inclusive and from 15 December to 15 January

Salary: €14.00 per hour

Holidays: 20 days per annum pro-rata

We are a residential social care support service dedicated to assisting young refugees in Ireland. Our mission is to provide comprehensive support to young refugees, ensuring their accommodation needs are met while offering essential social work services to facilitate their integration and well-being within the community.

Job Overview

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Social Care Workers to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing support to young refugees, possessing a deep understanding of the challenges they face and the resources available to assist them. The primary focus of this role will be to provide accommodation support, primary care and comprehensive social work services to young refugees, empowering them to thrive in their new environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with other team members to develop individualized support plans for each young person, focusing on their unique strengths and challenges.
  2. Assist young people in securing suitable accommodation, liaising with landlords, housing authorities, and other relevant organizations as needed.
  3. Provide ongoing social care support to young people, offering advocacy.
  4. Monitor the progress of young people and adjust support plans as needed to ensure their evolving needs are met effectively.
  5. Work closely with local community organizations, government agencies, and other service providers to coordinate comprehensive support for young people.
  6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant data protection regulations.
  7. Participate in team meetings, and professional development training days to enhance service delivery and promote best practices in refugee support.
  8. Keyworking with young people to support them to achieve independence and integration into society.
  9. Daily Domestic housekeeping duties within the accommodation to include:
    • Cleaning rooms, public areas, community spaces and gardens
    • Planning and preparing meals, food shopping, cooking. Supporting healthy eating. Celebrating cultural differences with cuisine.
    • Laundry service & cleaning to ensure bed linens are kept to a high standard for new guests and current guests.
    • Decorating the living environment for relevant festivals / celebrations.
  10. Observation in fire safety and emergency.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Possess high motivation to serve people and attention to the details.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with diverse clients.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work / Social Care or a related field (Nursing or Teaching).
  • Professional accreditation or registration with the relevant regulatory body (e.g., CORU in Ireland).
  • Previous experience working with refugees, asylum seekers, or other vulnerable populations.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and services related to refugee support in Ireland.
  • Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those spoken by refugee communities, is advantageous.
